1.         Fine feathers do not make fine birds. 酒肉賓朋,柴米夫妻。
2.         A fair woman without virtue is like palled wine. 美女無德如酒無味。
3.         A thing of beauty is a joy forever. 美的事物是永恆的喜悅。
4.         All cats are grey in the dark. 貓在黑暗中通通都是灰色的。

3. A little learning is a dangerous thing. 一知半解,危險之至。
4. An enemy may chance to give good counsel. 敵人也可能給人好的忠告。
5. Come not to counsel uncalled. 人之患在好為人師。
6. Counsel is to be given by the wise, the remedy by the rich. 忠告一定來自智者,救助一定來自富人。
7. Counsel must be followed, not praised. 忠告一定要遵守,不是要稱讚。
